Focusing and Experiential Psychotherapy was developed by Dr Eugene Gendlin at the university of Chicago. He discovered that clients who were successful in therapy, worked on their problems in a special way, and could be identified in the first couple of therapy sessions. He also discovered that clients who were destined not to succeed in therapy, could learn to do what the successful clients did. From this research he developed both Focusing for everybody, and also Focusing Oriented Therapy.
